Unlike alcohol, for which the law allows a residual level, cannabis use remains prohibited in France with no legal blood alcohol limit for driving. The saliva-based devices used by law enforcement comply with a decision of the Council of State (CE No. 394178 of December 5, 2016), which regulates their use during roadside checks.
