EPIDEMIOLOGY: ovulation self-test and pregnancy test

Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a glycoprotein hormone secreted by the developing placenta shortly after fertilization. During a normal pregnancy, the level of hCG is detectable in the urine as early as seven days after fertilization and doubles every 1.3 to 2 days. In addition, at the time of the last period that should have taken place, the urinary level of hCG is around 100mIU/ml with peaks of 100,000 to 200,000 mIU/ml at the end of the first trimester. The presence of hCG from conception and the increase in its level at the start of gestational growth make it an ideal marker for the early detection of pregnancy.

87% of women who cannot get pregnant do not know their ovulation date.

PRINCIPLE OF FERTIBOX MEDISUR

The Medisur Fertibox contains:

  • 5 Medisur ovulation self-tests to determine the LH peak in urine to optimize your chances of conceiving a baby. The Fertibox is ecological.
  • 2 Medisur early pregnancy tests capable of determining pregnancy 10 days after the last sexual intercourse. In addition, these self-tests are environmentally friendly.

PURPOSE OF THE FERTIBOX

The ecological self-test for early pregnancy detects a rate greater than 12 IU/L of chorionic gonadotropic hormone (hCG). This pregnancy test is a do-it-yourself immunoassay kit for the qualitative measurement of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in urine for the purpose of early detection of pregnancy by visual reading. A bad evaluation of the period of ovulation and therefore of fertility is a common factor in the difficulties of conceiving a child. The ovulation self-test identifies this period during the female cycle. It thus meets the needs of couples who are trying to have a child.

During difficulties in conceiving, the male origin is involved in almost half of the cases. There are male fertility tests, making it easy to check the spouse's fertility and thus be able to take appropriate measures (medical consultations, measures to improve the quality and quantity of spermatozoa, etc.). swimcount is the only male fertility test that takes sperm quantity and quality into account.

WHO TO RECOMMEND THIS BOX TO

For people with a baby project, wishing to conceive and, thus, maximize their chance of triggering a pregnancy.

PRECAUTIONS FOR USE

  1. Read the instructions for use carefully before carrying out this test. Mark the location of the C and T bands.
  2. Do not use the kit beyond its expiration date.
  3. Do not reuse kits. Dispose of the kit in the garbage after use.
  4. Do not use the kit if the packaging bag is damaged or opened.
  5. Do not touch the membrane on the strip.
  6. Once the packaging bag has been opened, proceed immediately to the test. Prolonged exposure to ambient humidity will deteriorate the product.
  7. Treat urine specimens and used kits as potentially infectious material. Avoid contact with the skin.
  8. If the test strip needs to be soaked in the urine sample, ensure that you have a clean container beforehand.

The test can be performed at any time of the day. Nevertheless, it is advisable to collect the urine at the end of the afternoon because the LH concentration is greater. Do not use morning urine.

INTERPRETATION OF THE RESULT

POSITIVE

OVULATION

The result is positive if the colored band in the Test T area is as intense or more intense than the colored band in the Control C area. You have detected the LH surge. In this case, the result means, then, that ovulation will take place within the next 40 hours and that you must have intercourse within this time frame to optimize your chances of pregnancy.

PREGNANCY

Two distinct colored bands appear: one in the control area, the other in the test area. This result indicates that a pregnancy has been detected. The color intensity of the test strips may vary during pregnancy.

NEGATIVE

OVULATION

The result is negative if the colored band in the Control C area is more intense than the colored band in the Test T area. This result means that ovulation will not occur within the next 40 hours. In this case, a new test must be carried out the next day. However, beware: in some cases, the LH band may not appear at all.

PREGNANCY

Only one band of color appears, that of the control zone and no band is visible in the test zone. This means that no pregnancy is detected.

INVALID

OVULATION

No band appears or a colored band forms under the T marker (Test) without a band appearing under the C marker. In this case, it is not possible to interpret the test, it is considered as invalid. We recommend repeating the test with a new ovulation self-test and a new urine sample.

PREGNANCY

No band is visible or only one red band appears (only in the test area). In this case, carry out a new test. If the test still gives an invalid result, contact the distributor. Obtain the batch number and expiry date beforehand.
